Interesting article from Slate magazine on the lionfish invasion and lionfish obesity--a phenomenon that is occurring amongst lionfish populations along the Atlantic coast. Lionfish populations increased 700% between 2004 and 2008, and are still growing. They are gluttonous invaders that feed on a large number of species and as a result, reduce native fish populations by nearly 70%.
